The International Liszt-Bartok Piano Competition started in 1989 in celebration of the 100th birth anniversary of the Hungarian composer Bela Bartok, and it took place 10 times until 2020. Its specialty is piano. The hosting city is Sofia.
The organizers of the competition aim to invite pianists from middle and high schools of music from all over the country. With this, they hope to continue to support and develop interest in the music of two genius Hungarian musicians with a huge influence in the development of music in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Organizers of the competition: Hungarian Cultural Institute at the Embassy of Hungary in Sofia, National Music Academy "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov".
The competition is organized with the support of: National Fund "Culture" of Hungary, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria, Foundation "Prof. Luba Encheva".
