[01] International Boris Christoff Competition for Young Opera Singers

The International Competition for Young Opera Singers "Boris Hristoff" began in 1961. It was created by Hristo Brambarov and Iliya Yosifov - two outstanding personalities in the musical history of Bulgaria - magnificent opera creators and wonderful vocal pedagogues, who created the myth of the "Bulgarian Opera School". The competition was held 15 times between 1961 and 2014 in the city of Sofia. From 1973 to 2017, the competition was a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions. Among winners, the most famous sinders are such as Gena Dimitrova, Ana Tomova Sintova, Nikola Guselev, Hristina Angelakova, as well as foreign singers, including Ava June Cooper, Peter Glossop, Silvia Shash, Yevgeny Nesterenko and others. The prizes are separate - for men and for women, and the Grand Prize and the Sofia Ring have been awarded only 6 times in the entire history of the competition. The organizer is the "Boris Hristov" International Competition for Young Opera Singers Foundation.
