Traditional organizers are the Municipality of Pernik, the Municipal Complex Palace of Culture and the United School of Arts, since 2006. The International Competition for Young Classical Music Performers was held 16 times between 2006 and 2022. Its specialty is piano, string, wind and percussion instruments. It is hosted in the city of Pernik. The organizer is the Municipality Pernik. The main goal of the competition is to provide a stage for talented young people, as well as to be a place for the exchange of knowledge, skills and ideas among music educators and performers. Both amateurs and pupils and students in the specialized secondary and higher music schools and their graduates have the right to participate. The competition is held in one round on 25.04.2020 (Saturday) from 8.30 in the halls of the Palace of Culture in Pernik and is open to the public.

Participating performers compete in three sections:

  • Piano and accordion;
  • String instruments;
  • Wind instruments and percussion instruments.

Performers of classical musical instruments in both categories (amateurs and graduates of specialized music schools) can participate both individually and in chamber formations. Ensemble works in the piano section are performed on one piano (for 4 or 6 hands).

The competition ends with a gala concert with the awarding of prizes to participants selected by the jury, on 26.04.2020 from 15.00 in the Palace of Culture. The winners of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra Award and the OKDK Brass Band Award receive an invitation to participate in the festive concert for the opening of the next edition of the competition.
